These two developments of mixed new housing has been moving ahead at a fast pace. The team at CASS started work on the huge development in Barry in December 2014. The site is shared amongst 3 housing development companies and Taylor Wimpey selected CASS as their scaffold contractor based on their previous experience of working together. In this environment there is a requirement for great flexibility. This is demanded because of the fast-changing weather conditions, the changing ground conditions and the intricate mix of sub contractors.

The development in Barry is mixed housing of timber frame design whilst the development at Rogerstone is the more traditional block, bricks and mortar design.

The CASS team are working closely with the Taylor Wimpey site management to ensure that the scaffold is erected and dismantled in a coordinated manner.

The experience gained in the Taylor Wimpey site in Barry has been excellent preparation for the contract for Taylor Wimpey at Rogerstone in Gwent. These 2 sites will be running in parallel; sharing experiences and skills as appropriate.  In particular the scaffold team need to work very closely with the other subcontractors so that the scaffold is extended as the building grows in height. At a critical time the scaffold needs to be dismantled and moved to the next newly started house. This cycle is repeated throughout the life of the development to its completion.
