Watkin Jones Student Accommodation in Bristol

Following the demolition of the former magistrates’ building in Bristol city centre, CASS were engaged by builders Watkin Jones to provide scaffold for the construction of new student accommodation. CASS’s brief included the erection of 3 very complex loading bay structures which were required to ensure that the bricklayers could work as efficiently as possible. One of these loading bays was erected on each side of the building.

The site is in the very centre of the city and access is via narrow streets; some of which are bus lanes. With over 300 tonnes of equipment to be delivered by CASS very careful coordination between  Watkin Jones staff and CASS to ensure deliveries could be scheduled precisely. To ensure the safety of the public and onsite workers the whole scaffold structure has been clad in Monoflex sheeting.

The external construction of the building is nearing completion and dismantling of the scaffold will start in the next few weeks.
